Q: What embroidery formats are supported?
A: Embroidery Converter Studio supports 25 input formats (10O, BRO, DSB, DST, DSZ, EMD, EXP, INB, HUS, JEF, JPX, KSM, PCD, PCM, PCQ, PCS, PEC, PES, SEW, SHV, STX, TAP, U01, VP3, XXX) and can convert to 15 output formats (10O, DST, DSZ, EMD, EXP, GCODE, HUS, INB, JEF, PCS, PEC, PES, U01, VP3, XXX).
Q: Is there a difference between Windows and Mac versions?
A: Both versions have identical functionality. The Windows version supports Windows 10 & 11, while the Mac version requires macOS on M1 chips or newer.
Q: How do I install the software?
A: Simply download the installer for your operating system and follow the installation wizard. No additional software or drivers are required.
Free vs Pro Version
Q: What’s the difference between Free and Pro versions?
A: The free version converts one file at a time, while Pro unlocks unlimited bulk conversions, Export to Multiple Formats, PDF spec sheet generation, Parallel Processing and Light/Dark interface modes.
Q: How fast are the bulk conversions?
A: On our test system (Ryzen 5600x with 32GB DDR4 Ram), the Pro version consistently converts 2,500 embroidery files per minute. (UPDATE: the latest version EFC1.5 is now up to 10x faster with Parallel Processing enabled!)
Q: How fast is the PDF generation?
A: On the same test system (Ryzen 5600x with 32GB DDR4 Ram), the Pro version consistently generates 120 PDF design charts per minute. (UPDATE: the latest version EFC1.5 is now up to 10x faster with Parallel Processing enabled!)
Q: Can I upgrade from Free to Pro later?
A: Absolutely! Purchase a Pro license anytime and simply enter your license key in the application to unlock all Pro features.
Licensing & Activation
Q: How do I activate my Pro license?
A: After purchasing, you’ll receive a license key via email and at checkout. Open the application, navigate to the License section, and paste your key to activate Pro features.
Q: Does the software collect any usage data or connect to the internet?
A: The software respects your privacy completely. It only connects to the internet once – to validate your Pro license key through Gumroad’s secure API when you upgrade. No usage statistics, telemetry data, or personal information is collected or transmitted. Your embroidery files never leave your computer.
Q: Can I use my license on multiple computers?
A: Yes, your license allows installation on multiple computers for personal use.
Q: What if I lose my license key?
A: Contact us with your purchase details, and we’ll resend your license key promptly.
Technical Support
Q: The software won’t start. What should I do?
A: First, ensure your system meets the requirements (Windows 10/11 or macOS M1+). Try running as administrator on Windows or check security permissions on Mac. If issues persist, contact our support team.
Q: Some files aren’t converting properly. Why?
A: This can happen with corrupted or non-standard embroidery files. Try converting a known good file to test the software. If problems continue, send us the problematic file for analysis.
PDF Spec Sheets
Q: What information is included in PDF spec sheets?
A: PDF spec sheets include design info like: File Size, Stitch Count, Color Count, Jump Stitches, Trim Commands, Dimensions, Run Time, Top Thread Estimate, Bobbin Thread Estimate, Suggested Hoop Size, Start Position, End Position, Design Center, Date generated, and a preview image of the embroidery design.
Q: Can I customize the PDF appearance?
A: Yes! Pro users can add custom logos, copyright messages, design notes, and choose between individual or batch PDF generation.
Q: What if my embroidery file doesn’t contain color information?
A: The PDF will show available information. Some older formats may have limited metadata, but the pdf spec sheet will display whatever data is present.
